Mission

Academy of Irish Music-Chicago seeks to create a community of young musicians dedicated to playing and sharing Irish music.

Goals:

• To train young musicians to work together creating a dynamic and cohesive sound.
• To teach students the skills used in “sessions”.
• To explore new arrangements for traditional pieces.
• To provide opportunities for students to meet other young Irish musicians and teachers at workshops, festivals and competitions. The emphasis is on creating social music.
• To provide an atmosphere for students to develop life long friendships with other musicians based on the common love of the music and the desire to improve their skills.
• To give young people a wide repertoire and deep understanding of Irish music that they may pass on to the next generation.
